Is always tough choosing which features to continue to support. Is there a work-around for using this feature (except going to google calender). It does contain a link to the "source" (context) but that is a private URL only functional/visible to the organizer.
I'm not sure how they are doing, but perhaps you can shed some light on this. I've been depending on the feature so much over the past year or two, that I actually missed an important meeting with a client this week because I forgot to copy and paste all the stupid info into Calendar. If a guest is in another time zone and has shared their calendar with you, you’ll see when their meeting starts under their name at the top. If it was abused by spammers relegate it to Apps customer domains.
The seemingly small effort required by every interested event participant to convert a textual invitation delivered by email ("join us on September 10 at 1pm to hear Famous Fannie speak about the Martian economy") as they navigate to their calendar and make multiple clicks to enter the event, multiplied by tens of thousands of instances across our enterprise of this behavior equals thousands of hours of lost productivity with the deprecation of this feature.

I agree very much that it's sad that this features is going. I am taken to a link that explains how to create an event, but now how to create an invitation. I appreciate the choices developers have to make on which features to support or to remove, but usually there is a rationale for the choice. I look for this feature almost every day, only to be reminded that it doesn't exist.
You can invite a Google Group to your event instead of inviting people one by one. You can quickly respond to an invitation directly on the subject line of the message. You continue to hide features and functions and wonder why there is low usage? You need to rethink your whole philosophy on the presentation and usefulness of gmail.
